Villasimius Beach
The beach of Villasimius has a sandy base with granite rocks, dotted with bushes of typical Mediterranean brush. To its rear rises the Old Fortress, a medieval castle extended in the seventeenth century by the Spanish that added bastions, giving it a peculiar star shape. This monument is today open for visits and has an open air exhibition area. There is a permanent exhibition "Enemigos de la Fe', pirates and defenders of the coasts", that tells of the history of the Turkish - Barbarian incursions on the Sardinian coasts between the 16th and 19th centuries.
The area falls within the protected marine area of Capo Carbonara, for the very beauty of its waters, the richness of its wildlife and the evocativeness of its town.
